Membership

Why should you be a member of a local church?

The local church is the tangible, real-world expression of the Body of Christ. We believe that church membership is implicit in the New Testament in the way believers interact and covenant with one another.

Because Jesus loves His Church.

In fact, He calls the Church His Bride and loves her so much He died for her. Jesus is committed to His church, are you?

To display your salvation.

Scripture teaches that our vertical connection to God gives us a horizontal connection with other believers (1 John 1:5-10). Part of what a church does is distinguish those that are in Jesus’ flock from those that are not (Matt. 18). We like to say that, “There’s no such thing as Lone Ranger Christians.” In the New Testament to be a part of The Body of Christ also meant being a part of a local Body of Christ. The church is your spiritual family.

Because you need others.

o matter what your temperament, we were not created to live in isolation. God’s plan to save the world was always a group plan. John Wesley said, “There is no such thing as solitary Christianity.”

Because the church needs you.

God has gifted all believers with spiritual gifts. The primary venue for the expression of those gifts is in the context of the local church. ( 1 Cor. 12:7;14:1214:26Eph. 4:12)

Church membership has been compared with a team jersey. If you’re on Jesus’ team, why not wear the jersey?
